This is USGS Bulletin 875, Nonmetallic Mineral Resources of Eastern Oregon.Published in 1937, there can\'t be many of these around. The publication consists of the 180-page hard cover book and all nine of the original geologic maps, five of which are bound into the book as foldout maps. Because this was rebound from soft cover to hard cover, there is no longer a map pocket. Three of the four pocket maps are bound into the back of the book as fold-out maps, and the fourth is loose.Two are full color geologic maps.

This interesting book discusses a variety of deposits of minerals in eastern Oregon. The commodities discussed include:

Asbestos

Diatomite

Limestone

Pumice

Each of these is discussed in great detail, with individual deposits described, and several maps of areas of interest. The two color maps are of important diatomite areas, and are pretty cool looking vintage maps:

One of the maps about pumice has Crater Lake on it. An index map has all the areas marked on it.

All in all a pretty interesting book about some lesser known deposits. A scarce book for the die hard mineral collector, Oregon historian, or armchair geologist. Rare to find this as a hard cover. A great find.
