-15\" Long-weighs about 11 oz-Chalky blue on the outside (as found on Alaska beach 15-25 years ago)-Is not hard as a rock like they are when they are petrified-As seen in the pictures, this grade of mammoth tusk has cracks and layers of separation have developed.
I doubt that this one is good for carving etc... but I have tried to price it right to have as a nice souvenir (I don\'t mind messages with your opinion on price etc...).
Found in the tidal wash on the beach in an area where the clay bluff caves off during storms sometimes unearthing pieces and fragments of rare wooly mammoth tusk like this one.The blue and tan chalky outside seems to be the result of some of the clay in this area near where this (and others like it) have been found. Some of the ones I\'ve found are more brown on the outside. Also, some are completely petrified and are shinny and very dark brown, while others actually have some white.
I would imagine that this mammoth tusk sample will make an interesting conversation piece on the coffee table. It may end up reminding you and your friends of an ice age, of pre ice age, of historic years gone by (maybe not really so long ago as one might think) when Mammoths roamed the earth along side of man! ... Imagine...
