We bought this antique Indonesian sword well visiting my wife's family in Indonesia. The actual purchase took place in Bali but the swords origin is more than 100 years old and originates from West Java. Although it has no paperwork the markings and method of craftsmanship tells it's story of authenticity

I bought it from an antique sword and traditional weapons dealer in Bali and was explained to how these types of swords and daggers are usually passed down from father to son and the only time where a sword like this comes into private possession outside the family is when there is no male heir and no one to pass it on to

Due to its Metallurgy being primarily composed of iron forged in the very old method it was most likely a ceremonial sword rather than a fighting sword
