GERSDORFFITE w/ CALCITE and ANNABERGITE: Aït Ahmane, Tansifte Caïdat, Agdz Cercle, Zagora Province, Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Morocco. Dimensions: 7.0 x 4.5 x 2.5cm, small cabinet. This is an impressive and colorful Gersdorffite specimen from arguably the best locality in the world for the species, with large crystals from 0.5 to 2.5cm (one inch!) that are unusually well displayed and associated with contrasting white Calcite. The sharp crystals are octahedral in shape with many of the crystals exhibiting triangular, geometric growth patterns on their faces. Gersdorffite is an uncommon nickel arsenic sulfide and the finds here occur in Co-Ni-calcite veins and have redefined the species. Additional color is provided by thin coatings of green Annabergite, a nickel arsenate hydrate. This is a significant small cabinet piece of an important nickel species at a great price.
