Offered for sale is a wonderful collection of Wedgwood jasperware mini Dutch jugs (one of the seven is actually basalt). All are in excellent condition-no cracks, chips or loss of relief that I could find under a bright light. I have researched the classical scenes depicted and I have listed the title of the scenes. If you would like further information on any of the scenes-I will be happy to research the scene to give you any additional information that I find. I have an extensive amount of research material.I have included a photo of a shape/size #24 5 1/2" tall olive dip Dutch jug for size comparison. All 7 of the mini jugs are 2 1/2" tall, give or take a few centimeters due to shrinking in the kiln and the dipped jugs are slightly larger.The first jug is Terra Cotta jasperware which is glazed inside. The jug is marked Wedgwood Made In England, and 2 1/2. The two classical scenes are "King Priam Begging Achilles for the return of his dead son Hector" and "Group with Cage" (no other info is available to my knowledge, specifics are unknown.The second jug is solid Sage green (unglazed) marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2. The two scenes are "Ulysses Staying the Chariot of Victory" and "Group with Cage".The third jug is a solid light blue (unglazed) marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2. The two scenes are "Aesculaplus or (Aesculapius) Treating a Youth" sometimes referred to as "Sacrifice to Aesculaplus". The second scene is "Icarus and Deadalus".The fourth jug is basalt with a gazed interior, Marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2. The two scenes are "King Priam Begging Achilles for the return of his dead son Hector" and "Friendship Consoling Affliction"The fifth jug is dipped cobalt or (dark blue) glazed, marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2. The two scenes are "Ulysses Staying the Chariot of Victory" and "Group with Cage".The sixth jug is sage green dip with glazed interior marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2. The two scenes are "Icarus and Deadalus" and "Ulysses Staying the Chariot of Victory"The seventh and last jug is a light blue dipped with glazed interior marked Wedgwood Made In England and 2 1/2.
