Seth Padelford of Taunton became a judge and was a former active member of the Committee of Correspondence during the American Revolution. He was a relative and forbear the later namesake who went into politics and was Governor of Rohde Island. This Seth was a tough prosecutor and a tough autograph as a Revolutionary. He is writing the State Treasurer of MA for more information in a case involving Alexander Smith and righting a wrong. the letter has a stampless cover of 8 cents from March 10, 1794.
