Samia Galal Saad has wide work experience at the national andinternational level with Governments, the private sector and the United Nationsagencies. She has written extensively on water conservation and industrialwaste issues, including conference proceedings on "awareness and trainingof women in environment". She attended several Training for TrainersProgrammes on Environmental Impact Assessment, Integration of Public HealthDimension in Environmental Impact Assessment, Hazardous Waste Management, IndustrialRisk Assessment, Promoting the Role of Community in Natural ResourcesConservation and Environmental Pollution Prevention, Women's Participation inSustainable Development through their Role in Environmental Conservation. Shehas conducted and organized several training programmes for integrating genderand environmental dimensions in the policy and programme evaluation fordifferent UN and national governmental agencies personnel. She is a writer forchildren and women on simplified environmental education and activelyparticipated in several TV and radio programmes for mass media environmentalawareness. She has been awarded several prizes for her work, including theRolex prize, the National Egyptian Academy of Science and Technology for EnvironmentalResearch prize and the academic prize of Alexandria University for PublicHealth Engineering Research. She is Technical Consultant to the Minister ofState for Environmental Affairs in Egypt working, inter alia, on theintegration of the gender dimension in the Ministry's projects. She earned hera PhD in Civil Engineering (Sanitary Engineering) from North Carolina StateUniversity, USA, in 1973.
