Thisis a great new 7/8\" nickel silverSt Barbara medal with a traditional image of this good saint wearing her crown and holding up a cup with the Holy Eucharist. On the back is\"PRAY FOR US\" and \"Italy\". Comes on a 24\" continuous stainless steel chain.

Comes gift boxed and with a St Barbara prayer card, gift bag and tissue paper.

StBarbara is one of our favorite saints; herstory is still asource of inspiration for brave and faithful new converts and cradle Catholics alike.She isone of the Fourteen Holy Helpers,a group of saints who have formed asort of superpower leagueto help Christians which has an interesting story of it\'s own which dates from the middle ages.

According to the legend,St Barbara was the daughter of a powerful king who imprisoned her in a tower for disobedience. While there she studied with learned men and became a Christian. Her father was angered by her conversion and killed her in a fit of rage. He was immediately struck by lightning and killed.Although her patronage doesn\'t include it, her story would make her a suitable patron for abused children, since she certainly has \"been there!\" Her other patronages are many: miners, firefighters, people who work with bombs and explosives, artillerymen, architects, brass workers, builders, construction workers, fire prevention, geologists, mariners, masons, mathemeticians, stone masons and others. She is invoked for protection against fire, explosions, storms and lightning, sudden death and death by artillery.

The prayer cards which come with our rosaries, medalsand pictures are home-made, created using a \"greeting card\" programon a computer and printed in full color on nice quality paper. Although theyare not like the usual smaller professionally printed prayer cards, most of ourcustomers prefer them since they are like a pamphlet with 4 \"pages\"and several images, prayers, patronages and often other information about thesaint or Catholic devotion.
