These routes are still in service to the present day. The Wetlands Cultural Trail is a 282-mile (454 km) byway along the bayous and wetlands in the southeastern part of Louisiana, near New Orleans. The route provides a myriad of opportunities to enjoy the scenery of the state's bayous, marshes, and wetlands, plenty of wildlife (such as the pelican on the sign), and learn about the vital ecological role the Wetlands play in the area.
