Abstract
John T. Hopf photographed all manner of Newport life, from America’s Cup races to shots that document the transformation of Newport in the 1960s. From “behind the camera,” he caught family portraits, festivals, contests, newsworthy events, and familiar streetscapes. Significantly, Hopf made a specialty of aerial photographs and was the first to document Newport from the air.
This photo was taken during the Tall Ships Festival in Newport, RI during the 1976 Bicentennial celebrations. The image measures 19.5" x 15.75". The overall measurement is 24" x 20".
