This is a large fossil crab Potamon fossil from Turkey. This specimen has been preserved as a natural outer cast in its own “travertine cave”. It has amazing detail and claw and carapace preservation.

Travertine is a limestone that forms near mineral springs. These crabs were found when big blocks of travertine stone are cut and used as building materials. These fossils are estimated to be 300,000-400,000 years old and are from the Pleistocene.
