This gorgeous silver and probably gilded bronze Knights of Pythius membership badge is in its original folding real leather and purple velvet container. Probably because of this container the piece is nearly mint with none of the wear, scratches etc. normally seen on these badges. The banner from which the medal hangs is beautifully engraved with the member\'s name: PHIL. SEAGRIST. The reverse of the pentagonal backing of this badge has the workSILVER stamped on the back. I\'m assuming that it is indeed silver but that it might be coin (.900) silver rather than sterling. The gilding on the main section of the badge is in beautiful condition. Theupper name banner has some very minor erosion to the surface. This badge also came with apaper label that clearly has always been with the badge. It reads as follows: Cuyahoga Lodge No. 460/ Knights of Pythius /A. EDD ADAMS / 4523 FINNAVENUE / CLEVELAND. O. The overall size of the badge is 3 1/8\" long x 2\" wide. The leather case\'s snaps were patented in 1903 so I\'m assuming the badge was probably created in the early 20th c.
