VERY EARLY, Patented Antique Cast Iron Apple Peeler, PATENTED 1882, Hudson Parer Co., Leominster, Mass.

DESCRIPTION:Scan showsit all.....one of the earliest, antique apple peeler/parers EVER MADE. PATENTED IN 1882,ONE OF THE FIRST AUTOMATIC APPLE PEELERS EVER INVENTED, OVER 130 YEAR OLD, aVictorian version of an "automatic" APPLE PEELER/Parer !!!

Niceearly iron machine generally, with an interesting design. VERY INGENIOUSOPERATION. Cast in it, in large letters as shown, is "Manf. By Hudson Parer Co., Leominster, Mass., Patented Jan. 24, 1882".

Itworks by turning a crank, through 4 geared wheels. There is a metal3-pronged "spear" where the apple is skewered to hold it in position;the apple turns as the crank revolves. There is a replaceable blade on aspringed arm that also turns following the contour of the apple, cutting offthe peel. These peelers actually were designed quite efficiently, especiallyfor such an early machine. This one is in excellent condition and complete. Itappears to work and APPEARS THAT IT CAN STILL BE USED TODAY !!! It even has thesprings that help control the cutting blade and the original blade. Also hasthe original thumbed screw on the bottom bar that tightens it to a table orbench to stabilize it.

Mainwheel is 5" diameter. Measures about 8" x 8" x 4" overall.Crank is 2 " long. This can mount vertically or horizontally. IN EXCELLENTCONDITION !! HAS NICE AGED PATINA, and also makes a wonderful period decoratorfor the kitchen or other rooms.

Youdon't see this type of early machine very often in such complete condition,ESPECIALLY A MARKED AND SUCH A NICE EARLY DATED ONE. THIS IS AS NICE AN ANTIQUEAPPLE PEELER AS YOU WILL FIND.
