This antique letter from 1888 features the letterhead of Pfahlert's Hotel in Sydney, Australia. The letter is a fascinating piece of history, and it was found amongst a cache of correspondence related to the sheep industry.
This is hard to read, but can make out the word sheep. It is addressed to W. G. Markham, who was heavily involved in the exportation of merinos to Australia. He convinced Australian wool growers that introducing American merinos into the Australia flock would increase their weight, and this was very successful.
All ephemera has wear commensurate to age, including, potentially: nicks, folds, smudges, rips at edges, stains, old smells, minor rips at folds , small holes, and other imperfections. You get what you see :)
