Red Almandine Garnet Crystals in Shimmery Schist Matrix mined near Wrangell Island Alaska. The garnet deposit is on the mainland of Alaska at the mouth of the Stikine River. Only accessible by boat or float plane when weather is acceptable.

Natural deep red, lustrous almandine garnet crystals in biotite schist host rock.

Garnet Ledge, near Wrangell Island is a famous Alaska mineral location known since the early 1900's. It has been mined for excellent garnet specimens.

This specimen is ten inches by eight inches by just over two inchs thick and contains dozens of garnets in assorted sizes.

All measurements at the widest areas.
