This Machine is EXCELLENT. Works like new. Another tech school closet machine. Made before 1973. It has a scrape on the horizontal base plate scale lock as seen in photos. Does notaffect installation and removal of scales.
- Vernier lever lock/release linkage was cleaned and lubricated.- All pivot bearings were cleaned and lubricated.
- All vernier levers lock and unlock smoothly and Index spins freely.- Protractor handle lock positively and release easily as designed.- Bands adjusted and are all tight. All have proper tension. Pulleys and bands are clean and not corroded.- Board Clamp lamp screw is clean and spins smoothly and fully open and closes as it should.- Head Rub plate is solid and clean.- Elbow rub plate is solid and clean- A few small scratches and scuffs overall, consistent with age.
- Original 13 page Manual for use, maintenance and repair.
Machine Scales are all Excellent. All 12 inch. All drawing edges perfectly smooth. Extremely clear with slight scratches and scuffs.- (1) Bruning 12\" 1\"per foot & 1/2\"per foot. Full graduations.- (1) Bruning 12\" 20ths and 40the per foot. This is an Perfect substitute for 1/2\"per foot & 1/4\"per foot. (I have been using one for years)- (1) Vemco 9P-1512\" Full scale 32nds & 50ths. The name & scale size on center bar are gone as seen.- (1) 6-scale tri sided rule. All architectural. Very good.
- Erasing template - stainless steel - Excellent.- 6\" French Curve by Staedtler - New. - Eraser is by K&E (name decal rubbed off). Looks barely used. Runs like new.- 24 White Vinyl Majic Rub Erasers (brand new) same as Faber-Castell #79. (the only ones that won\'t shred the paper like rubber)- Brush is 14-1/2\" by. Vintage, Excellent.- (2) Templates. Circle and Residential Kitchen Bath, Excellent. (often needed in residential drawing)

.....Some background! Ihave been using...repairing... and selling elbow and track drafting machines of most Makes and models for over 30 years. ALVIN was originally The Best original iteration of all forms of machines but were canceled out of the US due to a Federal Trade Commission lawsuit by the Vemco Corp in the 1960s or so. Then Vemco took over. Until then Mutoh was the premier \"band & pulley\" machine and Vemco just copied it and took over the market because foreign companies were taxed out of the U.S. market.
I was on a first name basis with the Vemco rep. for many years and learned much from her. Of particular interest was that once the Vemco machines dominated the US market thatthey bought and sold parts and equipment makers forseveral other machines. These include Post, Teledyne Post (formerly Mutoh) andBruning. Vemco was the last manufacturer standing before CAD took over.
I only sell machines and scales that are good enough to be -inspected and rejuvenatedto perform as they were intended. All descriptions and pictures are meant to be asimportant and useful as possible.
AND I enjoy giving new life to these mostly unknown, and discardedingenious machines from the mid century era.
