Tran Thi Tam, born in 1950 in Quang Tri Province, played an active role in commune guerrillas starting from May 1965. Despite being arrested and imprisoned by the enemy in April 1966, she persevered and continued her work, joining the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union upon her release in November 1967.

From 1967 to 1971, Tran Thi Tam participated in numerous battles in her homeland, capturing 869 Americans alive, destroying armored vehicles, planes, enemy cannons, and tanks. Her remarkable bravery earned her the rank of Second Lieutenant and the position of District Captain of the Hai Lang District Team. Tragically, she sacrificed her life at the young age of 22 during an intense battle in Hai Commune on December 11, 1972. Recognized for her heroic actions, she was posthumously awarded the title of Hero of the People\'s Armed Forces by the State. Today, a monument and her grave stand in her hometown as a testament to her bravery.
