Original 1850s, sixth-plate ambrotype photo of a woman nursing her baby. Very rare image! Housed in its original banded leather case, which is complete, intact, and in excellent antique condition. The ambrotype is behind a mat but there is no cover glass, and the image has some mat abrasions, light nicks and surface wear, mostly visible when viewed enlarged or under magnification, and not so much when viewed normally in hand, however, the emulsion side is no longer exposed, it\'s now face down in the case, so the image is secure. Photo 1 is a scan, photo 2,,cell phone, below average room lighting, uploaded directly from phone with no editing.
