In 1978, the 35 Group 8 astronauts were selected to fly and serve as mission specialists in the Shuttle program. Designer Robert McCall was asked to develop a patch for the Group 8 astronauts who were also known as TFNG's.
The design of the patch is now in the public domain. With the permission of McCall Studios, I had 10 patches printed new, 100% embroidered with iron-on backing. These are very high quality, 5.5" in diameter. They look beautiful.
To be clear, these are NOT originals from 1978. These are high-quality replicas printed using the publicly-available design. They celebrate a special moment in the history of US spaceflight. The $5 cost per unit represents the real cost with shipping ($25) to have these produced in limited numbers plus the addition of $5 each to be donated to the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF). I do not represent the ASF... they are just a really worthy cause.
