Available here is a beautiful handmade and hand-painted wooden shield featuring our unique Tri-Knot design inspired by Viking and Norse shields of old. While this particular design is similar to knot artwork created by the Celts, there is a little bit of overlap within some of the more simplified designs and styles of both Celts and Vikings. This shield is made of solid red oak, and measures about 28 inches across and 1/2 inches thick. A heavy metal disc/boss is affixed to the center, and stainless steel studs line the border. Dual leather straps are also used to secure the arm along the back—one going over the forearm and one intended to be gripped or held. Description This beautiful shield features our unique Tri-Knot design inspired by a mixture of Viking and Celtic artwork. While this particular design is similar to knot artwork created by the Celts, there is a little bit of overlap between the two cultures when it comes to some of the more simple knot patterns that were used. So we created this one to fit and look great on a shield. Made entirely of solid red oak, this shield measures about 28 inches across and about 0.5 inches thick. A heavy metal disc/boss is affixed to the center, and stainless steel studs line the border. Dual leather straps are also used to secure the arm along the back—one going over the forearm and one intended to be gripped or held. Because this shield is made of real wood, please note that the wood-grain background shown in the pictures may vary slightly from the shield you receive (this is simply due to the nature of the wood). The front of the shield has also been applied with several coats of topcoat/varnish to protect it through the centuries. So whether for the wall or the battlefield, this shield is well balanced and ready to serve.
