The \"St. Pat\'s\" on the face of the postcard could be a reference to the Knights of St. Patrick from the University of Missouri, which is located in Columbia. If so, it would mean that someone/some on the engineering and installation crew was a Knights of St. Patrick recipient.
The Knights of St. Patrick is an award that is given to students of the College of Engineering who demonstrate leadership, exhibit excellent character, and make exceptional contributions to the College and its students. This award has its origins at the University of Missouri, Columbia. The students at this university believed that St. Patrick must have been an engineer to drive all the snakes from Ireland. Since then, the honor has come to represent excellence in the field of engineering. It’s a prestigious recognition that was first established in 1903.One such radio tower construction project was reported to have costed nearly $200,000 of 1917\'s money.
Erecting radio towers in the early 20th century was a complex process. It began with gathering the necessary raw materials for construction. These materials were then cut into the required shapes and sizes. Precise markings and measurements were made to ensure accurate assembly. The materials were then machined and drilled as needed.
