DESCRIPTION:Rare original early 2 Page WWII German Death card for a soldier KIA in Parkkina-Petsamo, Finland.

Specifically, \"Alois Huber, farmer\'s son, lance cpl. in a mountain Jager regt, who was killed in action on July 24, 1941, AGED 23, during the campaign in the east, in Parkkina-Petsamo (Finland).\" Nice FULL PAGE photo in uniform and mountain cap.\"

The date of death is not included in print on the card. It was added in the lower left, however, in early pencil handwriting by someone, possibly his parents.

The fighting in Finland was also referred to as the HIGH NORTH. Finland cards ARE VERY HARD TO FIND THESE DAYS, as there was not a great deal of fighting there. Finland was allied with Germany for much of the war, then changed to the US/Russia allied side in 1944 when it became obvious that they were going to be the winners. Finland did NOT want to be on the losing side considering that they already shared a long border with Russia!

Card is in excellent condition, and 2-page cards are always especially nice. This card puts a name and face and story to a soldier who would otherwise just be a forgotten statistic.
