  • The image area measures 21 x36 cm [8¼\" x 14¼\"],and letterpress text in the lower margin describes the ferociousattack, whichresulted in the surrender of the Union garrison.
  • The view is titled Battle of Mumfordsville,Ky., Sunday, September 14, 1862. — The Confederates Charging Throughthe Abatis in Frontofthe Fortifications near Green River. Note that Munfordvilleis spelledas Mumfordsville. An abatis is a defensive obstacle formed by felledtrees with sharpened branches facing the enemy.
  • Condition: This original lithograph is in verygood condition, bright and clean, with nomarks,rips, tears, or creases. It is printed on a lightweight paper that hastoned slightly with age, giving it a fine antique patina.Please see the scans and feelfree to ask any questions.
