This listing is for a HUGE lot of letters, cards, pamphlets, post cards and more - all from the collection of a woman named Virginia G. Jeffreys. Jeffreys served as a secretary for many local and national Democratic politicians from the Virginia area in the 1960s. In addition to her secretarial work, she served many other important roles including serving on the board of the Historic Mount Vernon Association and as a member of the Democratic State Central Committee (of Virginia). Most of the official. governmental letters are regarding scheduling, procedural notifications, etc.
This lot includes over 30 individual pieces and will ship to the purchaser neatly packed in a vintage ECLIPSE file box, hand dated 1926-1927:
-- (6) letters with envelopes, (1) telegraph, and (1) empty envelope of official, governmental correspondence.
-- (2) blank Mt. Vernon post cards, (1) blank "The Carolina", N.C. postcard, and (1) filled out and postmarked post card from Harrah's Casino, Reno. All postcards are period to the lot.
-- (1) Ribbon/Pin from the 1968 Virginia State Democratic Convention worn by members of the Central Committee
-- (4) Pamphlets/Directories listing all "State Central Committee and County and City Chairmen of the Democratic Party of the State of Virginia. (1961, 1965, 1966x2)
-- (10) random pieces of personal correspondence - cards from family, notes from friends, and a quite personal note from the family doctor regarding a negative cancer diagnosis.
-- (6) letters with envelopes, and (2) harder to read copies of official notes from Mrs. Jeffreys non-governmental work with Mt. Vernon Association and The Democratic State Central Committee
