What indicates how early an example this pad saw is? As with all early pad saws, this pad saw has a strip ofsteel inserted and held in the mouth by 2 small ‘Ferrule’ holding screws. Thisstrip was so placed to be between the actual blade and the 2 blade securingscrews, without which could lead to saw blade damage, which could besignificant at the narrower/shorter end of the blade. This feature was omitted in later pad saws.
