This RCA Special Products release was recorded by WFMT for the Chicago Symphony Radio Marathon IX on April 27, 28, and 29 of 1984. In addition to Solti, it features A-list conductors Fritz Reiner, James Levine, Daniel Barenboim, and Claudio Abbado and the program highlights choral masterpieces by Prokofiev, Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, and Mahler.
The magnificent Chicago Symphony Chorus shares the marquee here, and right alongside the Solti autograph you will see the signature of Chicago Symphony Chorus founder and director, Margaret Hillis.
