Bankers Utilities Company Book Bank. Surety Savings in San Jose, California.

3⅜" wide x 4½" tall x 1" thick. Vintage/ antique children's book bank.  Red and white embossed faux leather. Made by Bankers utilities Co. San Francisco. Patented July 3 1923, made in USA. Advertisement for Surety Savings and Loan Association, 285 South First Street, San Jose 13, California. Mid century bank building. I have another one of these book banks for the same bank but it looks older. I think it was produced in the 1940-50's. The back of the cover has a round seal that says "Federal savings and loan, insurance corporation, safety of your savings INSURED up to $10,000. These little book banks were given to children to encourage them to save money. The catch was, no key. When your bank was full you can take it back to the bank on the cover and they would open it for you along with try to convince the children to open a bank account. I was super curious so I opened this one up. Hoping to find $ but... nothing. I watched a quick YouTube on how to open this type of lock. I used a small binder clip and it was not extremely difficult. Condition is very good. Some tarnish to the brass. Please see all the photos carefully and feel free to message me with any questions.
