This is a large size preliminary piece by the legendary CC Beck of one of his most iconic images, the classic "Impossible Cover" from Whiz Comics #22 (originally published by Fawcett Comics in 1941). It is known as the Impossible Cover since it features Billy Batson together side-by-side with The Big Red Cheese! It is done on vellum which measures approximately 13" by 17 1/2". Vellum is basically see-through, so the picture has been taken against a white paper background. We have also included additional pictures which shows slightly different lighting. We believe this was done in the 1970's, but it was not dated on the piece. The vellum has some general wear, with fold/crease lines through the middle and across the top and bottom, as well as some scattered staining, and you can also see there are a couple of small pieces chipped out near the top left side edge. The piece still displays well and would frame nicely. Here you have one of the most desirable and iconic images that C.C. Beck ever did. This is a truly spectacular example by one of the legendary masters of Golden Age comic art. Shazam!
