Cretaceous Fossil Shark Teeth Labeled--Location found, stand, and case included:
$12.00

This fossil case displays aquatic Cretaceous specimens.

With each order, I include the exact location I found these fossils and how you can find them as well!

  • Scapanorhynchus texanus: These teeth belong to a shark very similar to the modern-day goblin shark. The one on the left is an anterior tooth which just means a tooth found at the front of the shark’s jaw. The right tooth is a lateral tooth that would be found on the side of the shark’s jaw, this one often has smaller blades protruding from the main blade and these are called cusps. These cusps are theorized to have helped the shark hold on to its prey
  • Belemnitella Americana: This fossil is the rostrum of this squid-like creature. It is believed that the rostrum served as a counterweight for the rest of the animal to help it from staying buoyant in the water and making their selves an easy catch for their predators.
  • Squalicorax kaupi: This tooth belonged to one of the species of the famous crow shark lineage. S. kaupi is a little bit less known than its bigger relative S. pristodontus however this shark was not tiny. It is believed to have averaged around 6 feet in Size: 3.3x4.3x.9 inches
