The beautifully unique stone in this pendant is made fromauthentic real fossil dinosaur poop. The formal name of fossil poop, dung orscat is Coprolite. It was fossilized much like any other bone, shell or plant.The original material has been replaced during fossilization by the mineralAgate. Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of the mineral Quartz (SiO ). Inpolished cross sections paleontologists, such as Dr. Karen Chin (see NationalGeographic Magazine January 1993) can see undigested bits of bone and plantsthat were part of the dinosaur's diet. The dinosaur was probably a herbivore,perhaps a long neck Sauropod, based on the undigested plant content found inother coprolites in this region. This fossil Coprolite has been tumble-polishedto bring out the form and beauty. It was found in Jurassic Age rocks of Utahwhich are 140-200 million years old.
