Very rare vintage military item here! Exercises in Gunnery Mathematics; The Artillery School Ft. Sill, Okla. With an unusual binding – hard covers, spine-bound with metal working and cloth straps. Not even sure how the metal works but its purpose must be to take off the covers so lesson plans can be added or removed. And this does appear to be many thin booklets combined or bound together. The book is over 3” thick! On the front cover is a patch (maybe thin cloth?) with the handwritten words. The first printed page reads July 1949 (an ink stamp near the bottom reads “Save for 2nd Year”. This first ‘booklet’ is 56 pages with an additional couple pages for notes. It looks like the next lesson is Introduction to Air Transportability, about 15 pages. Next is Computation of Lashing Strenote, 6 pages. And it continues on and on like that. About 500 pages or so and, maybe, 40 or more lessons (these lessons can sell separately for up to $50 each!). Leafing through, some things mentioned include preventive maintenance, multiple rocket launchers, artillery carriages, battery and battalion organization and administration, field expedients, the 105mm howitzer recoil mechanism, artillery radio sets… vehicular installation, plotting equipment and much, much, much more!
