Antique, possibly 150 to 200 years old appx. Sold as a pair. Information may/may not be totally accurate. Solid wood, thought to be from the upper N.M.-Santa Fe area.
Please look over photos carefully. Very unique and original icons, appx 75 pounds each, both missing the finger digits as seen in photos. Thought originally one on left was “Black Madonna” but have been told she is “Our Lady of Mount Carmel” (Mary) and the one on right have been told is “Saint Ann”, mother of Mary but unsure. She is holding a book and if so she was teaching Mary, her daughter the word of GOD.
Out of a local art appraisers estate here in Lubbock Texas. These are heavy and would not suggest shipping much less the shipping cost would be very expensive plus the risk of damage.
Best to be picked up personally.
All hand made, the madonna shows holes in the base where she was mounted at one time in the past. Both show wear by age but both make a totally grand exposition whereever they are. Prolly truely belong in a museum and specially professionally cared for.
Please note cracks in the wood at the bases and throught, they are both truely very old.
