Antique Porcelain Creamer, With Female Allegorical Symbol Of Hope:
$120.00
Lovely old creamer. Decorated with a glaze that is a metallic coppery brown. On both sides is the classical allegorical depiction of Hope, from Faith, Hope and Charity, with Hope being female, standing near an anchor, and pointing at a clipper ship that is far away. This symbolized hope that a traveler would safely find their way home. Unknown age. I am guessing at least 100 years.I don\'t see any cracks. There are a few chips on the spout and on the rim. There is the number 24 pressed into the creamer under the spout. There is normal crackling of the glaze.
