Why are all the 2017+ 8.4" Uconnect 4C touch screens failing?

The original factory screen design used a gel-based glue adhesive to bond the outer frame and the digitizer frame together. After 3-5 years, this glue fails (delaminates) and peels away, leaving a bubble/ watery appearance and causing numerous touch response issues.

The Cause:

Exposure to heat and sunlight causes this gel to separate and no long properly transmit the touch signal from your finger to the system. As a result, we see random ghost touching, icons jumping around,etc.

The Effects

The dealer will tell you to replace the entire head unit- at a very high cost. Even worse, they will install the same defective design that will fail again in a few years. This is not necessary!
