The RDS-6s test was the name assigned to the first disputed thermonuclear Hydrogen bomb weapon test performed by the Soviet Union. The United States assigned it the code-nameJoe-4. It was an atmospheric test exploded on August 12, 1953 at Semipalatinsk, Kazakh SSR. The explosion yielded out at just 400 kilotons. Since it did not yield into the megaton range many scholars believe it was not, in fact, a "true" Hydrogen bomb.
