Up for your consideration is this original 1966 printing block image of Mickey Mouse dressed as Walt expressing sadness of his passing made for The Courier-Journal. It is made of molten lead alloy on carved wood and seems to be signed by the artist in Mickey’s overalls button. I feel the artist who made this was very moved and did an amazing job expressing their feelings with a tear on Mickey’s cheek and stars in his eyes. The object is roughly 15 inches x 11 inches x 1 inch thick and has never been cleaned. This process of printing is no longer done and with the historical subject matter should be in a museum.
