1926 The Library of Pioneering & Woodcraft by Earnest Thompson Seton - Volumes 1-5. Seton's writings were very popular and published by multiple publishing houses. This is the Doubleday, Page & Company edition--a quality version printed using excellent materials and bindings. This Library is a wonderful collection of Seton's works from the early 1900's and represents a window into a period in American history that will never be repeated. Seton's writings and philosphies affected generations of Americans and this is a chance to own a landmark collection. Dimensions: approx. 8 inches X 5 1/2 inches X 1 inch, quality hardbound, typically around 400 pages per book. Vol 3 has a slight spine/cover seperation but all volumes are in generally Good Condition.
Ernest Thompson Seton (born Ernest Evan Thompson August 14, 1860 – October 23, 1946) was an English-born Canadian-American author, wildlife artist, founder of the Woodcraft Indians in 1902 (renamed Woodcraft League of America), and one of the founding pioneers of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) in 1910. Seton also influenced Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of the Scouting movement. His writings were published in the United Kingdom, Canada, the US, and the USSR; his notable books related to Scouting include The Birch Bark Roll and the Boy Scout Handbook. He is responsible for the appropriation and incorporation of what he believed to be American Indian elements into the traditions of the BSA.
