(3) SVs/Dead FOX & FISH w ICICLES in NH/Kilburn/c1860s--Danielsonville CT Seller:
Three (3) stereoview photographs of icicles and deadanimals, probably in New Hampshire, photographed and published by Kilburn Bros.of Littleton, New Hampshire, circa 1860s to 1870s, distributed by G.W. Thorneof New York City (blind stamp mark on front), and sold by C.H. Keach ofDanielsonville, Connecticut (green stamp mark on back). The three views areentitled No. 158, Fox, No. 115, A day’s sport, and No. 223 Seven Pound Trout. Thetop view shows a dead fox displayed on a shelf of ice below a frozen waterfallwith hundreds of icicles. The middle view shows two bunches of fish tiedtogether with a supple branch run through their mouths. The bottom view shows abig old trout. Both of these bottom views have icicles that form caves to givea bit of extra 3d effect. Charles H. Keach (1847-1922) ran a store in the townof Danielson, Connecticut. The three stereoviews are in good or bettercondition with only light wear and soiling. The photographs exhibit good orbetter tonal range and show good or better detail. A nice group of earlystereoviews with interesting marks!
