Vintage Think Drink Mug Promotion For The Coffee Council 1960s Pop Art Mug.

Super rare mug originally as part of a promotion. These were notoriously manufactured rather cheaply so they did not survive in many cases. The mug was originally full of flaws (waviness in the ceramic, random rough spots and bumps. This one is in excellent condition with no signs of cracks or chips anywhere just a few spots of dust that appear to be embedded in the ceramic. Here’s more info I found on a blog about the history of it:

“This coffee mug was created by the Coffee Council (if memory serves me correctly) in order to promote coffee drinking. It was created as a premium in association with an ad campaign, "Coffee, the Think Drink." This campaign was in the late 1960s, between 1966 and 1969, I believe.

I paid a small amount to have one mailed to my home. The first one arrived shoddily packaged and broken. They sent out another, equally shoddily packaged, but whole. Sadly, although the design was wonderful, the mug was very poorly manufactured. It had glaring flaws all over it. Nevertheless, it has served me well as a pencil holder for perhaps twenty years and a display item for another twenty or so.”
