Loosen the screw (red arrow) and move the lug to the left or right as needed. Then secure the lug in place by tightening the screw. The metal scroll of your Singer Bias Binder folds the binding fabric and feeds it to the sewing machine needle(red X)to be stitched to the fabric you are binding.
Moving the lug right places the needle to the left on the binding.Moving the lug left places the needle to the right on the binding.NOTE: Setting the lug can make the difference between stitching the binding securely to your fabric or having raw edges ofbinding exposed.~~~~~~~~~Let\'s Play!I cut my own binding 15/16th\" wide (on the bias) using a rotary cutter and cutting mat.
The end was cut at an angle to make it easier to feed the binding into the scroll.I used a shepherds hook dental stiletto (see my other listings for one of these) to catch the tip of the binding and place it under the foot of the binder. The tip of the binding needs to extend past the back of the binder by an inch or so (red arrow 2nd picture below).
Tuck the edge of the fabric you are binding into the side central opening of the metal scroll snugly (red arrow) and then as close to the needle as possible. As your sewing machine stitches, it will pull the binding with the encased fabric under the needle.
