- It is surrounded by 73 smaller maps, on various scales, of islands,island groups, and cities, including Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti, Papeete, NewCaledonia, Noumea, New Hebrides, Western Samoa, Easter Island, Nauru,Marianas, Bismarck Archipelago, Yap, Tarawa, Tinian, Saipan, SolomonIslands, Guam, Wake, Pitcairn, Gilbert and Ellice, Pago Pago, HawaiianIslands, Pearl Harbor, Suva, Rarotonga, the Aleutian Islands, and manymore.
- This map was published by the National Geographic Society in December1936 and is dated in the legend.
