Very rare item hard to find.
Wall plate with a family crest consisting of a lion with sword on a shield culminating in a mother pelican feeding her babies. The symbolism of the mother pelican feeding her baby pelicans is part of an ancient legend which preceded Christianity. The legend was that during a famine, the mother pelican wounded herself, striking her breast with the beak to feed her young with her blood to prevent starvation.
