Vintage French sommelier cup, or \"tastevin\" (taste wine), that was used by winemakers to evaluate the color and clarity of wine.
The shallow cup is faceted and convex so that it can catch and reflect light, making it easier for the winemaker/sommelier to judge the color and clarity of the wine in dim light (candlelight/wine cellars) more easily than by holding up a glass. Would make a nice gift for a wine lover/decorative addition to a home bar/wine cabinet. Approximately 3\" x 3.5\" x .75\". Metal is tarnished consistent with age and use (see photos).
