You are looking at a very cute vintage set of Mr. & Mrs. Santa Claus Salt and Pepper Shakers from the 1950’s ~ Japan. They are sturdy and fairly heavy for their size. The finish is absolutely beautiful on them. The paint is very shiny, rich and still intact. The crazing is minimal on this beautiful couple. As a side note, crazing on figurines is common for this era. My opinion it builds character and each line (crazing) tells a story from the past of each figure. It does not take away from the display value or beauty of these shakers. They are both wearing very cute outfits. Mr. Santa Claus has on a very long red Christmas gown. The gown has spaghetti trim on the bottom with genuine gold accents. He also has on a big red hat with white spaghetti trim speckled with beautiful genuine gold accent and on the tassel on top. He has on his classic big black snow boots with a big black belt, gold buckle and his mint green mittens to keep him cozy and warm! Santa Claus is holding a present wrapped in white with gold ribbon and holly. He is pointing up at Rudolph and he is squinting saying; Ho! Ho! Ho! as his white mustache and big white whimsical beard jiggle along with his belly! LoL ;)

Mrs. Santa Claus has her finger up to her chin… She is wondering what type of cookie to bake for all the hard working Elves. She has her long hair up in a bun. She is wearing a red dress with white cuffs and she has on a white apron. The apron has gold stripes in the front and white spaghetti trim with sparkly gold on the bottom of her apron. She is also holding up a spruce of holly in her one hand. She is just darling!!!

However, this famous Christmas Couple has a twinkling of a wild side. Legend has it that one cold and snowy night while warming themselves by the fire it happened. While sipping their sparkling grape juice Santa decides he’d like to dance with the Mrs. Sooo, he puts on some tunes but selected the wrong song. Instead of “White Christmas “ Santa picked “White Zombie “!!!! They were dancing so fast that their feet tangled up. Santa got away with a small chip at the bottom of his Christmas gown. However, Mrs. Claus started laughing so hard that she literally cracked up. She has a crack that runs from her waist across her right hand and over her shoulder and around the back of her neck. The elves did a fantastic job with her repairs. Her little bouquet (spruce) of holly was damaged also. They both still display very well!! They stick to milk & cookies since the “incident”…. No one has spoken of it until now!! LOL ; ) They are ready to go to a new loving home and new family. This set would definitely make someone very happy to receive them as a gift or maybe even a nice treat for yourself to start or add to your vintage collection!

Measurements are All Approximately ~ Both Mr. & Mrs. Claus are - 4” Tall, 2 1/2” Wide, 2” Front to Back (Length), 6” Bottom

Note: Both Shakers have (Made In Japan) Stickers on their Bottom. Also both have Original cork/plug in the bottom of them.
