Vintage 1933 Colonial Model 250 (AC/DC) 5-tube, Mini-Tombstone, AM Radio:
$299.00

Here's one you don't see everyday! This is a fully restored 1933 Colonial Model 250 (AC/DC) 5-tube AM radio. The wooden, art deco style, mini-tombstone cabinet has been brought back to it's original luster. The AC/DC chassis has been refurbished. It has a newer power cord and plug. This radio was designed to work with an external antenna, but at some point a loop type antenna was added to the back. It looks like it's a homemade unit and it resembles the Zenith "Wave-Magnet" antenna which was introduced during this time period. It doesn't work very well. I live in an area with poor AM reception. In the video, I am using a "Select-A-Tenna" signal booster to pull in the stations heard. The radio has its original wooden knobs and grille cloth. The shiny brass escutcheons behind the control knobs are still there. On most of the examples of this radio that I've seen, the escutcheons are missing or badly degraded. There are some dings here and there in the cabinet which were probably there prior to the refinishing. They appear to be varnished over. The pictures of these flaws are close up and enhanced to show detail. Please, look at the pictures carefully! It comes to you from a smoke-free environment. Radio will be double-boxed for extra safety during shipping. The specifications below are courtesy of radiomuseum.org. Thanks for looking!
