An ultra-rare book published in the Soviet Union in 1939 for Western readers with a circulation of 5,500 copies!Publication in English of a book by Soviet geophysicist Evgeniy Konstantinovich Fedorov.(1910-1981) - report on work at the first Soviet drifting station.“North Pole-1” (1937-1938), for which on March 22, 1938 he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. The publication includes an autobiography, sets out methods of preparation for wintering and describes the expedition itself at the drifting station of the North Pole.The narration is accompanied by photographic illustrations made by expedition members. The second part is a facsimile of E.K.’s notebook. Fedorov, whom the scientist led during the expedition.The publication is quite rare, as it was intended primarily for foreign readers.
