VINTAGE 1940'S 48 STAR Applique Sewn Heavy Cotton USA FLAG 1912-1959 44" X 67”actual approximate size Storm King 4x6

This flag was found in my mother-in-law‘s linens, and from the cotton ties left on it we believe she had it hanging from her covered porch for a while. My husband doesn’t actually remember seeing it there and it’s not faded so perhaps it was only hung for a short time. His dad was a Korean war veteran, so given the age, it could have been his.

The stripes are sewn and the stars are appliquéd and it is made of a very heavy cotton almost canvas weight. It has some minor staining which may come out with some more soaking. I soaked it in oxy clean for two days and it came quite clean. ( no fading of color). But there is a little soiling where it was folded still.

We are clearing my mother-in-law‘s house and she can no longer remember when she got the vintage items that we are selling, but since she did antiquing and thrift storing for 40 years, we figure she got this at an antique store in the 80s.
