1924/25 Two Photo Album set from the USS Tennessee

This two album set is a great glimpse into one Sailors life as well as the USS TN in the early 1920’s. One of the albums consists of larger 7” x 5” photos all taken and printed by the ships photographer Browne. These larger format photos include boxing matches, shellback ceremonies, firing weapons and torpedos. There are a total of 80 of the large format photos in the one album alone. Most of these are attached via photo corners and are not glued to the pages

The second album is a mixture of RPPC’s and smaller format photos of one sailor and his buddies, family, and liberty photos. There are shots of him in the shellback ceremonies, around the ship and with his family. There is a total of 229 photos and RPPC’s in this album. About half of the photos are glued to the album pages.

Both albums do show their age and have pages falling out, chipped corners and some missing photos that are loose through out the albums.

Lastly, one album contains an early colorized photo of the ships crew which by far is the coolest piece within the lot.

The breakdown of the 300 or so photos is as follows

35% large format 7” X 5”

20% RPPC’s and PX style photos

45% are smaller format photos taken by the sailor, his friends and family.

I purchased these albums about 5 years ago from an estate in San Pedro, CA. I sold them the next year. Earlier this year I had the opportunity to buy them back and am now ready to offer then for sale again.
