This is a beautiful, full, polished, thin, bright, and translucent slice of NWA 7831, a crystalline Diogenite (HED achondrite).NWA 7831is a very unique meteorite composed almost entirely of translucent, yellow-green orthopyroxene with very sparse, tiny included grains of Ni-free metal, troilite, chromite, anorthite, silica polymorph and clinopyroxene.
Diogenites are believed to be from Asteroid Vesta, which had a fatal collision with another asteroid early in the history of the solar system.
