Condition:some scuff marks and bumping to covers and slightly loose binding on twovolumes – loose fly leaf volume 1 and Loose cover page volume 6.. Pages remainbright and clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Otherwise excellent condition.COMPLETE SETS IN THIS CONDITION ARE VERY SCARCE

The most important contemporaryBritish pictorial record of the second world war, with thousands of photographs(many not published elsewhere) from a wide variety of official and commercialsources. This massive compilation first appeared as 'The War Illustrated',published in 255 parts beginning with Issue I (16 September 1939) andconcluding with Issue 255 (11 April 1947). The series was issued firstfortnightly, then monthly (due to the shortage of paper), then againfortnightly in the final year. The part work was then revised and reset withcontinuous pagination in 9 volumes.
